1. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the cap A.
2. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the hat B.
3. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the cage C.
4. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the basket D.
5. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the sled E.
6. Draw a rectangle and turn it into the box trap F.

The instructor teaches children how to place a roof on a house:

• Ask children to study the house sketch labeled A-F on the bottom image.
• Draw the rectangle A, B, C, D.
• Bisect AB at E and draw a vertical line as high as the apex F is to be.
• Draw FA and FB.
• Ask children to repeat drawing the house with a roof a few times until mastered.

Children complete the following drill work:

1. Draw a horizontal rectangle. To the top add an obtuse triangle. Turn it into house G.
2. Draw a horizontal rectangle. To the top add a right triangle. Turn it into the shed H.
3. Draw a horizontal rectangle. To the top add an acute triangle. Turn it into the house I.
